GRITTY TWO-YEAR-OLD COLT SHOWED GRIDDY!

A TWO-YEAR-OLD COLT NAMED MITTY'S GRIDDY SHOWED GRIT AND TENACITY ON DEBUT!

(Make note of the spelling of the colt's name: G-R-I-D-D-Y and not G-R-I-T-T-Y)

Definition of GRITTY:

1. showing courage and resolve.

2. courageously persistent.

3. having strong qualities of tough uncompromising realism.

Example: Someone who is gritty is brave and determined.

Definition of GRIDDY:

1. The dance move is spelled "Griddy".

2. The Griddy is a dance move that involves alternatingly tapping the heels while swinging the arms back and forth the way Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson usually dances when he made a touchdown during a football game.

3. It can be performed in place or while walking.

4. Allen Davis, a high school football player, created the Griddy in 2018.
In 2019, the dance went viral on TikTok.

5. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has added a move to the dance called "throwing your B's".

This move is similar to making "ok" symbols around the eyes, in which, Justin Jefferson usually does during his dances.

Allen Davis' dance didn't get to mainstream audience until Justin Jefferson started his dances and then everyone got noticed and started to imitate his dance.

One notable imitation was by Mike Gesicki during a game touchdown catch by him on October 16, 2022, in Miami against Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings [while Justin Jefferson standing on the sideline watching Mike Gesicki imitates his dance.]

CBS play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz couldn't help noticing the dance by Mike Gesicki and he incorporated Gesicki's dance imitation into his play-by-play remarks by saying, "... oh, look at him [Mike Gesicki]..... he's getting griddy !!! ..... very griddy !!! ....," or something of that effect.

KUDO TO JIM NANTZ FOR KNOWING WHAT A GRIDDY IS AND FOR INCORPORATING IT INTO HIS PLAY-BY-PLAY REMARK.

Final score: Minnesota Vikings 24 -- Miami Dolphins 16.

AS FOR MITTY'S GRIDDY -- HE DANCED HIS WAY TO THE WINNER CIRCLE ON HIS DEBUT IN A SPECTACULAR FASHION!

On Thursday September 12, 2024, at Churchill Downs, race 5, Mitty’s Griddy showed that he can dance as well as Justin Jefferson by coming from dead last to win a six-furlong maiden special weight race for two-year-old colts going away in a spectacular fashion.

Mitty's Griddy (Mitole - Sarah's Song by Songandaprayer)

Although his breeding suggests that he tends to be a sprinter/miler, his dam Sarah's Song won two route races: one allowance at one mile at Oaklawn Park and another allowance race also at Oaklawn Park at one mile one sixteenth.

She also tried stakes (route) races three times finishing 2nd, 4th, and 9th.

Mitty's Griddy was sent off as the 6-1 ($6.68-1) fourth choice behind the 3-1 slight favorite El Prestigio ($3.06-1) trained by Steve Assmussen and another 3-1 second choice Bob Mo ($3.19-1) in somewhat of a wide-open field of 12 2yos with the 4-1 third choice being Free Country ($4.53) and the rest are over 9-1.

Mitty’s Griddy received a perfect pace setup in a six-furlong maiden special weight race after breaking slowly and dropped to last about a dozen lengths behind a fast opening quarter-mile in 21.35 seconds.

He was out of the TV screen and lost touch with the field for most of the race due to the rest of the field were too far ahead bunching up up front.

Turning for home he was still last, beaten about at least 18 lengths, with the rest of the field were mostly still bunching up and fighting each other toward the 16th pole.

At the 8th pole, Mitty's Griddy seemed like he was going to finish last or next to last.

But he found his strides at the 8th pole and put in a big rally and mowed them all down inside the 16th pole.

As a matter of fact, you could even throw a blanket over the whole field deep inside the 16th pole when Mitty's Griddy mowed them down.

What so impressive was deep inside the 16th pole when the wire was fast approaching and Mitty's Griddy was still about five or six lengths behind the leaders.

Griddy just exploded in a blink of an eye and catch track announcer Travis Stone by surprise and he blurted out, "Mitty's Griddy ... from out of the cloud to nail El Prestigio...."

Yes, Mitty’s Griddy seemed like he was coming out of the cloud to get up and win by one length, and to some it may seemed like it was merely an illusion from the leaders tiring; however, according to the Equibase GPS result chart, Mitty’s Griddy clocked his final quarter-mile in a swift 23.58 seconds.

Mitty’s Griddy may turn out to be something special for trainer Brad Cox.

I am very excited about this colt's future and the Keeneland Futurity Stakes on October 5, 2024 is likely his next start.

I CAN'T WAIT!
