For those of you who watch PBS regularly, particularly the 5:00 p.m. (Central Time Zone) BBC World News America hosted by Laura Trevelyan, should have a feeling of a lost as the news broke today headlining that Laura Trevelyan quits at BBC weeks after apologizing for her family’s past slavery links.

It is a huge lost:

BBC World News anchor Laura Trevelyan has announced that she is leaving the BBC after 30 years to play a role in uprooting the legacy of colonialism in the Caribbean.

Trevelyan’s decision comes just weeks after she apologized to the people of Grenada for her family’s links to slavery. “We apologize for the actions of our ancestors in holding your ancestors in slavery,” she said in a letter signed on February 27, 2023.

Here is Laura Trevelyan's tweet on March 14, 2023 about her leaving BBC:

"A new chapter is starting for me. After thirty incredible years at the BBC, I’m leaving tomorrow - to join the growing movement for reparatory justice for the Caribbean. Thank you to my beloved colleagues and to our amazing audience. I couldn’t be more grateful to you all."

I feel a little sad and a lost for a great news journalist but also admired her resolve to correct her ancestors' past slavery conduct. She should be commended for her resolve.

That a girl!!!
You go do what your heart is telling you to do.

Oh, my goodness! -- Just read an article at the DRF that one of my favorite racetrack announcers, Vic Stauffer, is no longer calling races at Oaklawn Park. It's a shame to lose one of the best in the business.

Come to think of it, one particular race that Vic Stauffer called that sticks in my mind to this day, is when he called a race at Hollywood Park a long time ago when it was still opened.

During that race-calling duty while the race was still going on and was half-way done -- an earthquake rattled Southern Califorina, mainly in the Los Angeles area where Hollywood racetrack was located -- instead of panicking like everyone else in the building, Vic Stauffer (somehow) managed to find humor in the mid of an earthquake while calling the race by saying: "...... racing fans .... I just want to let you know that I love you ......," or something like that.

Now who would do that? Everyone was scared to death of the shaking of the building and Vic Stauffer found a humor to go along with it.

Yeah, only Vic Stauffer!!!

Here is the link to the article:

https://www.drf.com/news/byers-replaces-stauffer-oaklawn-park-announcer

Here is a tweet response from Vic Stauffer on March 10, 2023 (from Las Vegas while competing in the NHC):

"I've separated from @OaklawnRacing. I thank them for 6 1/2 GREAT yrs. We disagreed about the severity of a tweet I recently posted. Respect their opinion. In LV to enjoy competing vs fellow horse players in the NHC. Humbly appreciate all the well wishes. Our game is the BEST! VJS."

According to the tweet response (above) from Vic Stauffer, it seems that Oakland Park didn't like what Vic Stauffer had to say in his tweet.

Was it an offensive tweet or was it some kind of politically charge tweet?

Ahhhh ... I would love to see that tweet to learn more.

I've looked over his tweets (@googonroof) from December 1, 2022 to March 10, 2023 (the date of Vic Stauffer's tweet response) and couldn't find such tweet in question.

My guess is that he deleted the tweet in question.

Anyhow! -- oh well! -- hopefully, he'll get another chance at another racetrack soon.
